AI ethics training for lawyers and legal teams
A practical, one-hour session on what the ethics rules already require when lawyers use AI, for bar groups, law firms and in-house legal departments.
Featured talk
AI and Your Ethical Duties: What Rules 1.1, 1.6 and 5.3 Require
Your lawyers and staff are already using AI. This session walks through the duties that come with it, using real situations rather than theory, and ends with a checklist your team can use the next day.
- Competence (Rule 1.1). What a lawyer needs to understand about an AI tool before relying on its work, and what courts have done when lawyers didn't.
- Confidentiality (Rule 1.6). Where client information goes when it's typed into an AI tool, and which vendor terms to check.
- Supervision (Rules 5.1 and 5.3). Who's responsible when an associate, paralegal or assistant uses AI, and what a basic firm policy covers.
- Candor and billing. When to tell a court or a client that AI was used, and how to bill for work AI sped up.
- A practical checklist. The questions to answer before your team adopts any AI tool.
